On 9 – 16 April 2008, the IIUM Humanitarian team has successfully organized community service programmes and da’wah in Cambodia. The team consisted of 20 IIUM students and accompanied by 7 staff from various divisions in IIUM i.e. Student development Division, Kulliyyah of Medicine, Office of the Health and Wellness Centre and Alumni & Career Service.

The team has achieved excellent results in Cambodia. They managed to circumcise 174 Muslim children from the age of 4 to 18, visited about 200 houses at eight villages, distributed 70 sets of ‘telekungs’, 160 pieces of ‘sarongs’ and 150 bottles of ‘atar perfumes to poor families and donated cash approximately amounting to RM 3,500, organized ‘gotong royong’ at the Muhammadi mosque and conducted motivation and fardhu A’in programmme for the Muslim children.

Based on the feedback received from the Islamic Welfare Association of Combodia, they really appreciated the team efforts and hoping that our university will continue to conduct community service and da’wah work in Combodia.
